Grenadine Lodge

Dalyan, Turkey

This Yoga hotel is absolutely charming.

I can’t wait to be back here again at the end of September. I love everything about this venue, the surrounding beaches, stunning lakes and the pretty town of Dalyan. So much so, that I keep coming back every other year to teach another yoga retreat here, I always stay on afterwards for a holiday too.

This quaint peaceful hotel has 16 rooms, a swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Massages are also available. The swimming pool has a small waterfall and a jacuzzi. There is a gorgeous Turkish tree house where we can relax or meditate. There is a small bar beside the pool and sunbeds which also serves snacks. At this venue, we also get to enjoy 2 lovely fully equipped yoga shalas,

Dalyan village is situated on the small river that joins the lake to the sea and our small yoga hotel is in the conservation area between the village and the beach. Small buses will stop outside hotel entrance every half hour taking you on the ten minute picturesque route to the beach. You can also reach Iztutu beach by taking one of the many riverboats from the village.Iztutu beach is vast, very beautiful and completely unspoilt by tourism as it is within a national park. There are no buildings other than a cafe at each end with changing huts and sunbeds, it is a conservation area with extremely strict access rules to protect the turtles which nest there.

Besides visiting the beach we can also arrange a variety of trips. There are also hot springs, mud baths and a huge lake to explore – its a very beautiful region.
A fantastic day out is the Twelve Island Boat Trip, some pictures of this excursion are in the carousal above.
On Saturday mornings there is a large market in Dalyan village selling local produce, spices, fabrics etc.
We can also arrange boat trips with barbeque lunches and a visit to a very old Haman (Turkish bath).
If you are interested in history there is the ancient city of Kaunas on the other side of the river or travel further afield to the Ghost Town at Kayaköy which is exactly as it was when the Greeks left Turkey to return to Greece.
Yoga takes place twice daily in one of the two yoga shalas.

The large open yoga shala overlooks the pomegranate field and I always teach an alignment based vinyasya flow class here in the mornings  beginning at approximately 7 30 am and finishing at around 9 30 am (depending on the group) – we will then have a hearty breakfast/brunch buffet.

In the evenings we will practice at Sunset from 5 00 pm – 6 30 pm usually in the second yoga shala which is  smaller and enclosed on all sides by bamboo screening. These sessions will vary each day and will include all aspects of yoga such as a Restful Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Technique class, Therapeutics, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Pranayama and Somatics. There is also a tree-house which is perfect to cool down from the midday sun or for group meditation sessions in the evenings.

The shade provided by the bamboo screening in both yoga shalas allows the air to circulate whilst keeping out the heat of the sun.

There is one day mid holiday with no yoga so we may venture further afield on excursions such as the 12 Island Boat Trip, or just spend the day relaxing by the pool
