Don’t ever stop dancing;

Its been a couple of weeks since I’ve written any words of wisdom, just lately, my life has been pretty busy with one thing or another. I am a human being after all and sometimes, social events, parties, family do’s, being there for my children and other commitments can take over. Do you know what though, mostly I’m ok with it all, because of my ‘spirituality’, I know to stay present and simply allow myself to be in the flow of this dance that is life.

My yoga practice, meditation, my reading, writing and being out in nature are what spirituality really means to me. When I’m doing one of these things, I feel deeply grounded and connected to the feeling of my true self. These things that make me truly present and more conscious give me the freedom to keep going, to live my life fearlessly and fully without regrets. I know that when life becomes hectic and inevitably it sometimes does, one of these awareness practices will always help me to recognise that I’m more than my body and thinking mind, these things keep me sane, feeling balanced and remind me that I am connected to a much bigger picture, the energy of all creation, I am part of it and it is part of me.

This morning, I made a conscious decision that I needed ‘my spirituality’, and that it needed to be in the form of yoga. I got up early and had a great practice followed by a deep meditation and do you know what, like magic – I’m back feeling like myself again and able to take on the world. That is the wonderful thing about having an awareness practice, it can be something you love, anything, whether it is running, walking, painting, cooking, playing the piano or doing yoga, it can literally be any activity that calls for focus so that it enables you to feel empowered, content, steady, stable and ready to flow with whatever life throws at you next.

When you feel in balance, you get the sense that everything is moving along as it should be and you are just fine. You take things in your stride, you feel healthy, vibrant, even content. Sometimes you may be challenged and busy, but your mind is relaxed enough to stay present and deal with it all – and with less stress and more ease. Allowing the truth of who you are – your spiritual self – to be your purpose in life, means that you stop panicking, you stop struggling, it is literally your coping mechanism.

One of the best books I have ever read is ‘A New Earth’ by Eckhart Tolle, it resonated with me so deeply, that it actually shifted my whole perception of myself and the world after I read it. Yesterday, I picked it up again and opened it up on this page – this quote;

There are three words that convey the secret to the art of living, the secret of all success and happiness: ‘One with Life’. Being one with life is being one with ‘Now’. You then realise that you don’t live your life, but that life lives you. Life is the dancer, you are the dance.

Enjoying life fully and being able to deal with the ups and the downs, is about becoming more conscious, then you are giving yourself permission to be 100% in its flow. Experience it all, make a decision daily, to be in the world fully present and always grateful. Life is a dance between making it happen and letting it happen, sometimes we lead, sometimes we follow but importantly don’t get upset when the rhythm changes – stay in the moment and go with it – KEEP DANCING.
