Once again I have just got back from teaching the most amazing yoga holiday at La Finca Argayall on the island of La Gomera. This was a very extraordinary place and it more than exceeded my expectations. Everything was special, from the happy vibrant group of yogi’s, to the rustic garden accommodation, the food was both exquisite and mouth watering and the connection to such pure and diverse nature was very very powerful. The plants, the wild life, the mountains and the sea gave off such a potent, electric natural energy and life force, every day became more inspiring and enlivening to my senses.
There is always an element of the unknown when planning for a yoga holiday, however I just always try my best to humble myself to the power of yoga from the beginning, I literally let the yoga speak and in no time at all, there is special vibe both from the place and from the group. As the week went on I let myself be lead by the group intuitively, teaching what I felt was needed. I know that when I can do this, it becomes more meaningful and that Im teaching from a place of compassion which in turn will inspire. Then wham bam the hard work is done, the yoga does its job, it opens everyone up, it connects us all to something much bigger. The experience students have on a retreat is mostly the outcome of the practice of yoga, which is why we all leave feeling we have been touched by something very special and unique.
Over the course of the week, we practiced lots of yoga and there were so many firsts which are always so uplifting to see, from, arm balances, to back bends, to handstands, to headstands to feeling each others kidneys!! Every practice is progress and even more so on a retreat, we learn to trust, to never to lose hope and believe that anything is possible with a little bit of patience and perseverance. We loved, we cried, we let go, we played, we danced, we sang, we properly belly laughed and of course we all without exception opened our hearts to it all.
I never feel completely drained after teaching a yoga retreat because one of the most magical things is its ability to always give me back more than I give.
I have come home feeling completely nourished, nurtured and renewed. I am inspired, refreshed and have a new passion for all that lies ahead of me this year. A week of yoga with an amazing group of people changes your perception and I feel so blessed and grateful for my new vision. I love each and every one of you for your individual uniqueness, from the bottom of my heart I thank you – Namaste.
