Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.

– Henry James ‘Metta’ – ‘Loving Kindness’

I was in London Xmas shopping a couple of days ago and it was seriously shocking to see how erratically people behave in a fast paced city at this time of the year. I saw anger, rudeness, stress, anxiety and picked up a general feeling of manic!

We can all tend to get a little bit crazy during the Festive Season, which can leave us feeling quite exhausted, stressed or even ill. Therefore this post is a gentle reminder to slow down and be kind to yourself. Love and Kindness has to start with you and is probably the best gift you can give to yourself. Its about taking quality time out to nurture yourself every day so that you connect and find nourishment from your own heart. Literally just a 10 minute walk, bath, or sit down quietly with your eyes closed, or absolutely anything that completely quietens your mind so that you can let go of ‘Doing, ‘Thinking’ and ‘Analysing’. This is how you will get back in touch with ‘Love’ and your ‘Feeling’ mind. When you are kind to yourself, life in general just becomes lighter and you will feel content as well as more peaceful. Self-love is a foundation on which we can build a happy life because quite simply kindness to yourself is kindness to others. As your own well-being increases, you’re more able and likely to be patient, supportive, caring, forgiving, loving and are more able to connect with others too. Basically, to take care of others, you’ve got to take care of yourself first, otherwise you are running on empty! Also without self-love, we have nowhere to put the love or abundance that comes to us. Even if we are in a great relationship, that person won’t be able to make us happy and feel loved unless we create the space for it inside by practicing self-love.

Self love is an inside job, ‘Metta’ is food for your heart, takes it easy, look after yourselves and be kind to others this Christmas folks.

With yoga and meditation we can connect back to our truest self ‘Love’, above all to be mindfulness practices ignite the love and warmth of your own heart so that you can offer it out to others.
From my heart to yours… with love
