I’m a bit of a yoga groupie when it comes to Brigitte’s yoga retreats, having been on my first in 2009 I’ve never missed a year since. First and foremost, it’s a holiday for me where I happen to do a lot of yoga and I love that Brigitte stresses that on day 1 allowing you the option to attend as few or as many of the sessions as you see fit. Generally, I go to all of them. The mornings are theme based creative vinyasa flows of about 2 hours duration and the evenings are shorter in duration and might include yin yoga, chanting, meditation, therapeutics or yoga Nidra. I first went on retreat with Brigitte after deciding I needed to get out of my comfort zone and face some fears. I had never been away on my own and never flown for more than 4 hours so after Brigitte was recommended to me I decided to jump in at the deep end and go to Goa with her. From the moment arriving at the airport Brigitte and her partner Brian were very welcoming and made me feel part of the group. I had the best time! My physical practice evolved, and my meditation practice too during the 10 days. When I first went along to one of Brigitte’s classes I had absolutely no idea what I was letting myself in for. I was somewhat sceptical and not just a little apprehensive. However, Brigitte’s such a great tutor. She makes everything fall into place so effortlessly – helping even a real novice like me assume positions that I’d never ever dreamed of. At times I still can’t quite understand why I’d even want to. All I know is that, with Brigitte’s encouragement, I do (even if, I have to admit, its not always with the greatest of success). I started yoga with Brigitte about 3 years ago and she has introduced me to a wealth of different yoga styles allowing me space to grow and develop in my practice. She is a very senior yoga teacher and is able to offer a very safe environment and ensures the classes are inclusive for all levels adapting her class and styles to the audience.
